Trump Urges Israelis: Re-Elect Netanyahu, Finish Iran Job

(MENAFN) Donald Trump on Sunday threw his weight behind Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, urging Israelis to re-elect him and calling on Israel to see its military campaign against Iran through to the end.

In a Truth Social post, the US president pointed back to an endorsement letter he released Oct. 18. He praised Netanyahu as an “outstanding Warrior Prime Minister” and highlighted the leaders’ close coordination on military operations against Iran.

“As everyone is aware, including the enemy, Bibi and I have had a great relationship in winning together,” Trump wrote, pointing to the US military operation against Iran, code-named Operation Epic Fury, as proof.

Trump made a series of claims about Iran’s condition. He said its navy and air force had been wiped out, its military and economy were in disarray, and its inflation had hit 301%. He also asserted that a naval blockade had choked off its oil exports and that two tiers of its leadership, military and civilian, had been eliminated.

Turning to Israeli voters, he issued a direct appeal: “Vote for Bibi Netanyahu for Prime Minister. We have to finish the job that we started!”

The Oct. 18 letter, addressed to the Israeli public, called Netanyahu a “Great Warrior Prime Minister” and an “even greater Partner for Peace” in the standoff with Iran. Trump cited what he described as decades of Iranian threats against Israel and the US.

He argued Tehran would eventually have acted on its rhetoric had it not been confronted, and said Iran had been “systematically destroyed, both militarily and financially.” He warned that Washington would have to take over the effort if Israelis chose a different leader.

“If Israel has the wrong Leader, which would be anyone other than Bibi, America will have to do this work ourselves, and I am not inclined to do so,” he wrote.

Trump also lauded Netanyahu’s resilience in the face of domestic and international opposition, saying the Israeli leader had emerged stronger under pressure and embodied the kind of partner Washington expects from Israel.

He ended the letter with an unqualified endorsement of the re-election bid: “BIBI NETANYAHU WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!”
