Belarus Issues Travel Advisory Over Protests in Six European Nations
The Foreign Ministry said the political climate in several European nations had “deteriorated sharply,” pointing to large-scale demonstrations, alleged excessive force by security forces and detentions described as arbitrary.
The ministry cautioned that authorities in the affected countries could introduce curfews or declare states of emergency, measures that might affect public transport, internet services and communications.
Belarusians currently staying in those countries were advised to remain vigilant, steer clear of large gatherings and protest sites, and monitor announcements from local authorities and Belarusian diplomatic missions.
The ministry further recommended that citizens use available commercial travel options to leave if conditions worsen.
“We also draw attention to the possibility that consular and legal assistance may be less accessible because Belarusian diplomatic missions in these countries have limited staff. We recommend saving the emergency contact details of these missions in advance,” it added.
