Israeli Soldier Killed, Three Wounded in Southern Lebanon Clashes
Among the wounded, one soldier was listed in moderate condition while two others suffered minor injuries, according to the military.
The violence erupted against the backdrop of Israel's intensified military campaign in southern Lebanon — an offensive launched in response to a Hezbollah cross-border assault on March 2, even as a ceasefire agreement reached in November 2024 technically remains in place.
Lebanon's Health Ministry reports that Israeli strikes have left at least 2,089 people dead and wounded 6,762 others across the country.
Amid the ongoing hostilities, officials from Beirut and Tel Aviv are scheduled to meet Tuesday at the US State Department in Washington — their first direct engagement — in a bid to revive ceasefire negotiations and open a formal channel of dialogue.
