Majority of Americans Favor Swift End to War on Iran

(MENAFN) Most Americans want the war with Iran to end quickly and are strongly against deploying ground forces, according to several recent polls, as the US-Israeli offensive enters its second month.

One survey found that 66% of Americans support a rapid conclusion to the conflict, even if it means not fully achieving all objectives. Another poll showed overall opposition to the war at 59%, with just 28% expressing support. A third survey indicated that 60% of respondents believe US military action has already gone too far.

Resistance to sending troops on the ground is even higher. Across the polls, between 62% and 76% opposed dispatching American soldiers to Iran, with 86% expressing concern about the risk to military lives in one survey.

Economic worries appear to drive much of the public’s war fatigue. Two-thirds of respondents cited preventing increases in gas prices as a priority, compared to only one-third prioritizing regime change in Iran. Nearly 77% said they were worried about the overall financial cost of the conflict.

Partisan divisions are pronounced. Democrats oppose the war by margins of 88–90%, while 62% of Republicans broadly support it. Among non-MAGA Republicans, support has fallen sharply in just two weeks, whereas self-identified MAGA Republicans continue to show high backing.

Public confidence in diplomatic efforts and likely outcomes remains low. Nearly half of respondents do not believe peace negotiations are underway, 59% consider a settlement within a month unlikely, and only 30% approve of Trump’s management of the conflict.
