US Industrial Output Surpasses Forecasts

(MENAFN) US industrial activity expanded 0.4% month-on-month in December, outpacing market projections of a 0.1% rise, the Federal Reserve announced Friday.

Overall production also advanced 2% year-on-year, according to the Fed.

Manufacturing output edged up 0.2% in December, following a 0.3% increase in November.

Capacity utilization improved by 0.2 percentage points to reach 76.3%, exceeding expectations of 76%.

The utilization rate, which surpassed forecasts, had been projected at 76% for the period. In November, the figure stood at 76.1%, the data showed.
